Hmmh, what can I say. I went along to Lakeside shopping complex in Grays on Thursday morning on my way to work. My mission was to have a nice breakfast at Marks and Spencer's. I start work at 11 but had to drop my daughter of at Stagecoach holiday workshop (which by the way is fab). So I had about an hour before work started and since my office was about 10 mins from Lakeside, it made more sense to have breakfast at M&S rather than go home. Anyway back to the main gist. I ordered the full marks breakfast (the Lady at the till was exceptionally nice) and asked for a very well done fried egg.
After waiting for about 10 mins the breakfast finally came, the egg was not well done (yoke was obviously runny), so I suppose if I hadn't asked for it to be well done, it might have been served raw!!!! Apart from that there was too much oil on my plate, the toast bread that came with it was more crunchy bread. Anyway, I asked for the egg to be exchanged for a WELL DONE one. Another 10 mins wait and the egg came back welll done, so well done that it tasted like plastic along with more oil in my plate.
I was very dissapointed, this was so unlike the excellent service I was used to with M&S and at £5.99 this must be the most expensive tasteless breakfast I have ever had. Look out for my next blog on my breakfast experience at Spread Deli also at Lakeside shopping centre, Essex (right beside M&S restaurant).
I see you are a breakfast expert like me. Just got back from a week away and they only got my eggs right on day 3!
ReplyDeleteBest thing is to ask for a well done egg on both sides so they actually flip the egg. I just tell them I am unable to eat raw eggs in any form. Sometimes, I just ask for a burnt egg! John Lewis in Brent Cross do a fantastic breakfast and get the eggs right first time.
